Privacy Policy for NB Translator

Last Updated: 14 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data may be processed when you use NB Translator, why such data is processed, who may receive it, how long it may be retained, and what rights you have in relation to your personal data.

NB Translator is designed in accordance with the principle of data minimisation. We aim to process only the data reasonably necessary to provide translation functionality, operate the Service, account for usage, process payments, maintain security and comply with applicable legal obligations.

This Privacy Policy applies to both complimentary and paid use of NB Translator.

1. Data Controller

The controller responsible for the processing of personal data in connection with NB Translator is:

Controller: Bogoslovskiy Nikita e.v.

Registered Office: Batsányi ut. 15., 8314 Vonyarcvashegy, Hungary

Telephone: +36 30 748 0156

Email: info@nb-group.dev

In this Privacy Policy, “NB Translator”, “we”, “us”, “our” or the “Operator” refers to the controller identified above.

Questions relating to privacy, personal data or the exercise of data protection rights may be sent to info@nb-group.dev.

2. About NB Translator

NB Translator is an automated translation service that uses artificial intelligence technologies.

Depending on the feature being used, the Service may process speech and text in order to provide:

speech recognition;
translation between supported languages;
text-to-speech synthesis;
playback of translated speech;
exchange of text-based utterances between participants in a conversation;
other functions directly related to multilingual communication and translation.

Personal data is processed only to the extent reasonably necessary for the relevant function and for the other purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

3. Whose Personal Data May Be Processed

NB Translator may process personal data relating to:

the user of the Service;
the user’s conversation partner;
participants in the Room feature, where that feature is available and used;
other individuals whose information is contained in speech or text supplied by a user or conversation participant;
purchasers of paid translation-minute packages;
persons who contact customer support.

Because NB Translator is designed for communication between people, personal data may be provided directly by the individual concerned or may be contained in information spoken or entered by another participant in a conversation.

4. Personal Data We May Process

4.1. Speech and Conversation Content

When voice translation is used, the following data may be processed:

audio fragments containing speech;
speech-to-text transcription;
source text;
translated text;
text submitted for speech synthesis;
information contained in statements intentionally spoken or entered by conversation participants.

The content of a conversation is determined by its participants. It may therefore contain personal data such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, dates, monetary amounts, professional information or other information relating to identifiable individuals.

4.2. Technical User Identifiers

NB Translator may create a technical identifier for a user.

Such an identifier may be used for purposes including:

linking available translation minutes to the user;
accounting for complimentary introductory minutes;
accounting for purchased packages;
preventing repeated acquisition of complimentary minutes through circumvention of the Service rules;
operating the Service;
security and prevention of abuse.

A technical identifier is not intended to be publicly displayed.

4.3. Session and Usage Data

We may process limited technical information relating to use of NB Translator, including:

technical user identifier;
session identifier;
Room identifier where the Room feature is used;
date and time of use;
selected languages;
duration of use;
number of translation minutes used;
remaining translation-minute balance;
type of function used;
technical processing component;
information indicating whether a request succeeded or failed;
technical usage data necessary to calculate consumption of the Service.

This data may be used to operate the Service, account for minutes, maintain security, diagnose errors and calculate the technical cost of providing the Service.

4.4. Device and Connection Data

When the web-based Service is used, servers and technical infrastructure may automatically receive limited technical information such as:

IP address;
browser type;
device type;
operating system;
date and time of a request;
network and request-related technical data;
error logs;
security logs.

Such information is processed only to the extent reasonably necessary for operation, protection, diagnosis and support of the Service.

4.5. Payment and Contact Data

When a user purchases a package of translation minutes, the following information may be processed:

name, where provided;
email address;
billing or payment address;
country;
information required for tax or VAT purposes;
selected package;
payment amount and currency;
payment date and status;
Stripe customer and payment identifiers;
information relating to refunds, reversals or cancellations.

Full payment-card details are processed through payment-provider infrastructure and are not intended to be stored in NB Translator systems.

4.6. Customer Support Data

If you contact us, we may process:

your name;
your email address;
the contents of your request;
technical information you provide;
correspondence relating to your request.

4.7. Acceptance and Consent Records

Where the Service requires acceptance, acknowledgement or consent before access is granted, we may record information necessary to demonstrate that the relevant action occurred.

This may include:

the technical user identifier;
date and time of the action;
the version of the Terms of Service presented;
the version of this Privacy Policy presented;
the version of any explicit consent statement presented;
the consent status;
the date and time of any later withdrawal of consent.

These records are used to operate the access mechanism, respect the user’s choices and demonstrate compliance with applicable legal obligations.

5. What NB Translator Does Not Do With Conversation Data

NB Translator is not designed to create a permanent archive of users’ conversations.

The Operator does not provide permanent audio recording of conversations as a standard function of the Service and does not provide a permanent archive of users’ audio conversations unless such a feature is introduced in the future with appropriate prior notice and a valid legal basis.

NB Translator:

does not sell conversation content or users’ personal data;
does not use conversation content for behavioural advertising;
does not create advertising profiles based on conversation content;
does not use a person’s voice for biometric identification;
does not create voice profiles for the purpose of uniquely identifying individuals;
does not use conversation content to train proprietary NB Translator AI models.

This does not mean that conversation data is never technically transmitted or processed. Data necessary to perform a requested translation function may be transmitted to the technology providers described in this Privacy Policy.

6. Purposes of Processing

Personal data may be processed for the following purposes.

Providing Translation

To perform speech recognition, translation, speech synthesis and other translation functions expressly requested by the user.

Providing Complimentary Introductory Minutes

To provide 15 complimentary introductory minutes and prevent repeated acquisition of the complimentary allowance by circumventing the intended rules.

Operating Paid Packages

To credit, account for and deduct purchased translation minutes.

Processing Payments

To confirm payments, credit purchased packages, process refunds and maintain required accounting and tax records.

Security

To prevent fraud, unauthorised access, abuse, circumvention of Service limitations and attacks on technical infrastructure.

Technical Diagnosis

To detect errors and maintain the stability, security and compatibility of the Service.

Customer Support

To process user requests and resolve technical, access-related or payment-related issues.

Legal Compliance

To comply with applicable legal, accounting and tax obligations, respond to lawful requests from competent authorities and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

7. Legal Bases for Processing

The legal basis depends on the type of data, the person to whom it relates and the purpose of processing.

Performance of a Contract or Steps Requested by the User

Where processing of a user’s personal data is objectively necessary to provide a function requested by the user, including translation or management of purchased translation minutes, processing may be based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Compliance With a Legal Obligation

Where processing is necessary to comply with accounting, tax, regulatory or other mandatory legal obligations, processing may be based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Legitimate Interests

We may process limited personal or technical data where necessary for legitimate interests such as:

protecting the Service;
preventing fraud and abuse;
maintaining information security;
diagnosing technical errors;
maintaining Service stability;
protecting the complimentary-use mechanism against circumvention;
establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.

This basis may also apply, where appropriate, to limited processing of ordinary personal data relating to a conversation participant who is not themselves a party to the user’s contract with NB Translator.

Where legitimate interests are relied upon, we consider the nature of the data, the context of processing and the rights and reasonable expectations of affected individuals.

Consent

Where applicable law requires consent for a particular processing operation, that processing is carried out only after the required consent has been obtained.

Article 6(1)(a) GDPR may apply where consent is the appropriate legal basis.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

8. Information and Explicit Consent Before First Use

Before first access to the translation functions of NB Translator, the user is presented with a separate introductory step explaining the applicable contractual and privacy conditions.

Before the Translator functionality becomes available, the user is provided with access to:

the NB Translator Terms of Service;
this Privacy Policy;
information explaining that speech recognition, translation and speech synthesis are performed using artificial intelligence technologies;
information explaining that audio and text data necessary to perform translation may be transmitted to the technology providers identified in this Privacy Policy.

The user must perform the affirmative actions required by the interface before access to the Translator is activated.

Reading or acknowledging this Privacy Policy does not by itself constitute consent to every possible form of personal-data processing.

Acceptance of the Terms of Service, acknowledgement of this Privacy Policy and any explicit consent required for processing special categories of personal data are legally distinct matters and are recorded accordingly.

Where NB Translator relies on explicit consent for processing special categories of personal data, the relevant consent statement is presented clearly and separately so that the user expressly confirms the processing for the specific purpose of providing translation and directly related technical operations.

Such consent does not authorise use of special-category data for:

advertising profiling;
training proprietary NB Translator AI models;
identification of a person by voice;
creation of medical, political, religious or other sensitive profiles;
purposes unrelated to providing the Service as described in this Privacy Policy.

A user may withdraw consent at any time using the consent-management mechanism made available by NB Translator or by contacting us at info@nb-group.dev.

Where consent has been withdrawn, processing that depends on that consent will cease, and functionality requiring such processing will remain unavailable unless and until a new valid consent is provided.

Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

If a conversation contains personal data relating to another person, the user’s own consent does not replace the rights of that other person.

9. Special Categories of Personal Data

NB Translator may be used during medical, legal, professional or other conversations whose content is determined by the participants.

As a result, speech or text may contain special categories of personal data under Article 9 GDPR, including information concerning:

health;
racial or ethnic origin;
religious or philosophical beliefs;
political opinions;
trade-union membership;
sex life or sexual orientation;
genetic data;
biometric data where processed for the purpose of uniquely identifying a person.

NB Translator does not intentionally collect such information for profiling or independent analysis of an individual’s characteristics.

If special-category data is included in a conversation, it is processed only in connection with the translation function requested by the user and strictly related technical operations.

Where NB Translator relies on Article 9(2)(a) GDPR, processing takes place on the basis of the data subject’s explicit consent.

Explicit consent is requested separately and is not deemed to have been given merely because a person has opened, read or acknowledged this Privacy Policy or accepted the Terms of Service.

If special-category data relates to another conversation participant or another third party, the relevant person’s rights must also be respected and an appropriate Article 9 condition must exist where required by law.

10. Microphone Access

NB Translator accesses the microphone only after the necessary permission is granted through the browser, device or operating system.

The microphone is used to receive speech intentionally submitted for recognition and translation.

NB Translator is not designed to continuously or secretly listen to users outside an active voice interaction initiated through the Service.

Microphone permission can be modified or withdrawn through the relevant browser, device or operating-system settings.

Withdrawal of microphone permission may prevent voice translation from functioning.

11. Speech Processing and No Permanent Conversation Archive

When voice translation is used, an audio fragment is transmitted for the AI processing necessary to perform the requested function.

After the relevant processing is complete, the Operator does not use that audio fragment to create its own permanent archive of the conversation.

The same principle applies to recognised and translated text: conversation content is not intended to become a permanent user conversation archive maintained by NB Translator.

The interface may temporarily display or retain conversation history to allow the current conversation to function and remain readable to the user.

Third-party technology providers may nevertheless process or temporarily retain certain data under their own technical retention rules and contractual safeguards, as described below.

12. User Control and Clear History

NB Translator provides the user with a direct control for removing conversation history available through the Service interface.

The function is presented as “Clear History”.

When the user activates this function, conversation content associated with the displayed history is removed from the user interface and from NB Translator storage used solely for the purpose of maintaining that user-visible conversation history, to the extent technically applicable.

This function is designed to give the user direct control over conversation content without requiring a separate request to customer support.

“Clear History” is not the same as submitting a formal GDPR request for erasure of all personal data.

Clearing conversation history does not automatically delete every other category of data associated with use of NB Translator.

In particular, the function may not delete:

records of purchased and consumed translation minutes;
payment, tax or accounting records;
technical user identifiers;
acceptance and consent records;
limited security logs;
data that must be retained to comply with applicable law;
data necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims;
data already processed by third-party technology providers and subject to their applicable technical retention periods.

Such data is retained only where a separate lawful purpose or legal requirement applies and only for an appropriate retention period.

The Clear History function does not restrict the user’s separate right to request erasure of personal data under applicable data-protection law.

A formal request for erasure may be submitted to info@nb-group.dev and will be assessed independently in accordance with applicable law.

13. Use of OpenAI

NB Translator may use OpenAI API services to perform functions including speech recognition, AI-based translation and speech synthesis.

For the relevant request, OpenAI receives only the data technically necessary to perform the requested function.

Depending on the operation, this may include:

an audio fragment;
recognised text;
text submitted for translation;
translated text;
text submitted for speech synthesis;
technical API-request information.

Under OpenAI’s API data rules in effect on the date of this Privacy Policy, data submitted through the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in to such data sharing.

NB Translator does not intend to opt in to the use of users’ conversation content for OpenAI model training.

OpenAI retention depends on the specific API endpoint and the data-control configuration applied to the relevant OpenAI project.

Under OpenAI’s current standard API rules:

audio transcription requests may have no abuse-monitoring content retention;
certain text-generation or translation-related API requests may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days;
speech-synthesis requests may be subject to abuse-monitoring retention for up to 30 days;
different retention rules may apply where approved data-retention controls such as Zero Data Retention or Modified Abuse Monitoring are enabled.

Retention rules may also contain limited exceptions where longer retention is required by law or reasonably necessary for security or protection against serious harm.

OpenAI’s technical and contractual rules may change. If a material change affects the way NB Translator users’ personal data is processed, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.

14. Room Feature

If the Room feature is available and used, participants may be assigned technical Room and participant identifiers.

The Room architecture is intended to transmit text utterances needed to conduct a translated conversation between participating devices.

The Room mechanism is not intended to transmit the conversation’s audio track to the other participant.

Audio used for speech recognition on a participant’s device may nevertheless be processed by an AI provider in order to obtain the corresponding text.

Room content is not intended to create a permanent archive of negotiations or conversations maintained by the Operator unless a separate storage feature is introduced in the future with appropriate prior notice and a valid legal basis.

15. Complimentary Introductory Minutes

NB Translator provides eligible users with 15 complimentary introductory minutes.

To operate this allowance, NB Translator may process a technical identifier and limited technical information sufficient to determine whether the complimentary allowance has previously been provided.

This information is used only for:

providing the complimentary allowance;
calculating the remaining complimentary balance;
preventing abuse;
preventing repeated acquisition of the complimentary allowance by circumventing the intended rules.

This information is not used for advertising profiling.

16. Use of Stripe

NB Translator uses or may use Stripe to process payments.

Payment information is entered through Stripe’s payment infrastructure.

Depending on the payment method and transaction, Stripe may process information including:

contact information;
payment-method details;
billing address;
device and connection information;
payment amount and currency;
information used for fraud prevention;
other information necessary to process the transaction and comply with payment-related legal obligations.

NB Translator may receive from Stripe information necessary to confirm payment and provide the purchased package, including:

user email;
billing or payment address where collected;
Stripe customer identifier;
payment identifier;
purchased product;
amount;
currency;
payment status;
refund, reversal or cancellation information.

Full bank-card details are not intended to be stored on NB Translator servers.

Stripe may act as a data processor for certain processing activities and as an independent data controller for other activities, including certain fraud-prevention, regulatory and payment-network purposes.

Stripe also processes personal data in accordance with its own privacy information and applicable contractual terms.

17. Hosting and Other Infrastructure Providers

NB Translator may use third-party technical infrastructure providers, including:

server and hosting providers;
AI technology providers;
network infrastructure providers;
payment providers;
information-security providers;
technical contractors where reasonably necessary to support the Service.

Parts of the NB Translator server infrastructure may use services provided by Hetzner.

Such providers receive access to personal data only to the extent necessary to perform the relevant technical function and subject to applicable contractual and legal requirements.

18. Other Recipients of Personal Data

In addition to technology providers, personal data may be disclosed where necessary to:

competent public authorities where disclosure is required by law;
courts or other competent bodies pursuant to a valid legal requirement;
professional advisers where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims;
a successor operator in the event of a lawful business reorganisation, provided applicable data-protection requirements remain respected.

We do not sell user lists or conversation content to third parties.

19. International Data Transfers

Some technology providers may process personal data outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred to a country outside the EEA, the transfer must be supported by an appropriate mechanism recognised under applicable data-protection law.

Depending on the circumstances, such mechanisms may include:

an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission;
Standard Contractual Clauses;
another lawful transfer mechanism recognised by the GDPR.

Under the OpenAI Data Processing Addendum applicable on the date of this Privacy Policy, EEA and Swiss customer data is processed under arrangements involving OpenAI Ireland Limited, and transfers to OpenAI affiliates or third parties outside the EEA or Switzerland may rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.

Stripe and its affiliates may also process payment-related personal data internationally and apply the transfer mechanisms provided in their contractual data-protection arrangements.

We do not represent that all personal data is physically processed exclusively within the European Union in every circumstance.

20. Data Retention

We aim not to retain personal data for longer than is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

Conversation Content

The Operator does not intend audio recordings, transcriptions or translations to become a permanent user conversation archive.

Conversation data may be processed or temporarily retained to the extent required to perform the requested translation function and to display the user’s current conversation history.

The user may remove user-visible conversation history using the Clear History function.

Third-party AI providers may apply the limited technical retention rules described in this Privacy Policy.

Usage Data and Translation-Minute Balance

Technical records necessary to account for purchased and consumed translation minutes may be retained for as long as necessary to provide the Service, maintain the correct balance, resolve disputed transactions and comply with legal obligations.

Complimentary-Use Data

Information necessary to prevent repeated acquisition of the complimentary allowance may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to protect the introductory-use mechanism against abuse.

Acceptance and Consent Records

Records showing acceptance, acknowledgement, explicit consent or withdrawal may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable law, resolve disputes and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Withdrawal of consent does not necessarily require deletion of the record demonstrating that consent was previously given and later withdrawn, where retention of that record has a separate lawful basis.

Payment, Tax and Accounting Data

Payment, taxation and accounting information is retained for the period required by applicable accounting, taxation and other mandatory laws.

Security Logs

Limited technical logs may be retained for the period reasonably necessary to maintain security, investigate errors and prevent abuse.

Customer Support

Correspondence may be retained for as long as necessary to process the request and protect the legitimate rights of the parties.

When continued retention is no longer required, personal data is deleted or, where appropriate, irreversibly anonymised.

21. Cookies, Local Storage and Similar Technologies

NB Translator may use technically necessary cookies, browser storage or similar technologies to operate the Service.

Such technologies may be used for purposes including:

saving necessary settings;
maintaining a session;
maintaining a technical user identifier;
recording the state of the access and consent mechanism;
maintaining security;
operating complimentary minutes;
operating translation-minute balances;
preventing abuse.

Technologies that are not strictly necessary for operation of the Service and require consent under applicable law will not be activated before the necessary consent has been obtained.

If NB Translator introduces additional analytics, advertising or marketing technologies in the future, this Privacy Policy and the relevant consent mechanisms will be updated before such processing is activated where required by law.

22. Analytics and Improvement of the Service

We may analyse technical and aggregated information for purposes including:

detecting errors;
measuring Service stability;
assessing technical performance;
measuring infrastructure and AI usage;
improving the user interface;
improving security.

Private conversation content is not used for advertising profiling.

Conversation content is not used to train proprietary NB Translator AI models without a separate lawful basis and appropriate prior information to affected individuals.

23. Data Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature and risks of the Service.

These measures may include:

encrypted transmission using HTTPS/TLS;
restricted access to server infrastructure;
access controls;
data minimisation;
separation of technical functions;
protection of API keys, credentials and other secrets;
security-related technical logging;
remediation of identified vulnerabilities.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute protection against every possible security incident.

If a personal-data breach occurs, NB Translator will act in accordance with applicable legal obligations, including notification of the competent supervisory authority and affected individuals where such notification is required by law.

24. Your Data Protection Rights

Subject to the conditions and limitations provided by the GDPR and other applicable law, you may have the following rights.

Right to Information

You have the right to receive information about how your personal data is processed.

Right of Access

You may request confirmation as to whether your personal data is being processed and obtain access to relevant personal data.

Right to Rectification

You may request correction of inaccurate personal data.

Right to Erasure

You may request deletion of personal data where the conditions for erasure under applicable law are satisfied.

Right to Restriction of Processing

You may request restriction of processing in circumstances provided by law.

Right to Data Portability

Where the GDPR conditions for portability are satisfied, you may request personal data you have provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.

Right to Object

Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may have the right to object to that processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.

Right to Withdraw Consent

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Right to Lodge a Complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.

25. How to Exercise Your Rights

Requests concerning personal data may be sent to:

Email: info@nb-group.dev

Your request should contain enough information for us to understand the request and identify the relevant data where reasonably necessary.

If verification of identity is reasonably necessary to prevent unauthorised access to another person’s personal data, we may request limited additional information for that purpose.

Requests will be handled within the periods required by applicable law.

26. Automated Processing and Profiling

NB Translator uses automated artificial-intelligence processing for speech recognition, translation and speech synthesis.

This processing is not intended to make decisions about a person that produce legal effects concerning that person or similarly significantly affect them.

NB Translator does not use conversation content for:

credit scoring;
insurance eligibility or pricing decisions;
employment decisions;
advertising profiling;
other comparable automated decisions concerning the individual.

27. Minors

NB Translator is not intended to enable persons who lack the legal capacity required under applicable law to independently enter into a paid contract.

Where applicable law requires consent, authorisation or participation by a parent, guardian or legal representative for processing a minor’s personal data, the relevant feature may be used only after the applicable requirement has been satisfied.

28. Other Conversation Participants

NB Translator is designed for communication between people. Use of the Service may therefore involve personal data not only of the direct user but also of the user’s conversation partner.

Users must respect the rights of other participants.

Where applicable law requires another participant to be informed about the processing of their speech or personal data, the necessary information must be provided.

Where consent from another participant is required by applicable law, that consent must be obtained before the relevant processing takes place.

Where appropriate, NB Translator may display a short notice explaining that the conversation is being processed by an AI translation service and that data necessary to provide the translation may be transmitted to technology providers for that purpose.

29. Right to Lodge a Complaint With a Supervisory Authority

If you believe that your personal data has been processed in violation of applicable data-protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority, including an authority in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement, where applicable.

Because the controller of NB Translator is established in Hungary, the Hungarian data-protection supervisory authority is:

Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH)

National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information

Contacting NB Translator before lodging a complaint does not restrict your right to contact a competent supervisory authority.

30. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated where necessary because of changes in:

applicable law;
NB Translator architecture;
AI providers;
payment providers;
methods of processing personal data;
Service functionality;
retention periods;
information-security requirements.

The current version will state the date on which it was last updated.

If a change materially affects users’ rights or the nature of processing, users will be informed in a manner appropriate to the nature of the change and as required by applicable law.

If a new processing purpose requires separate consent, merely updating this Privacy Policy will not constitute consent. The required consent will be requested separately.

31. Language Versions

This Privacy Policy may be made available in multiple languages.

The English version is maintained by the Operator as the primary source version for preparation, administration and consistency of translated versions.

All officially published language versions should reflect the same substantive information concerning the processing of personal data.

The existence of an English source version does not limit any right of a user to receive information in another language where such a requirement arises under applicable law.
